Choosing the best career and maintaining successful employment is a major hurdle for many young adults and adults with ADHD. Not picking the right career path or being able to hold steady employment is not only a financial burden but takes a huge toll on a person's self-esteem. Once a career has been identified the adult student must find a university, college or technical school that understands ADHD and can accommodate their special learning needs. We know from studies that many young adults want to enter college without checking out or using the special services that are available on campus. Studies have shown that ADHD college students often decide they don't need to take their medication. There are so many pitfalls that can cause them to fail by the time the first semester ends. So the question is how can those of us who work with this special group of students help them find the resources and the process to help them start out on the right foot and maintain a successful path to graduation and future employment?

During our discussion at this luncheon you will learn: 1) the best time to start thinking about a career, 2) what should the student and parents look for in a college, university or techinical school, 3) the parent's role in this identification process, 4) know how time blindness can be a big problem, 5) identify tools for your toolbox that will help you succeed such as calendars, ADHD coaches, and bodydoubling, and 6) identify the resources that are available online from webinars to week long online college prep classes for those with ADHD.

We like to remind participants that our group is informal and each event has diverse participants who work in a variety of professions: health care, mental health care, education, life coaching, and college & university support services just to name a few. Seating for this luncheon has been increased to 25 to make an allowance for you to invite a colleague from work to join you. They may attend using the one-time Free Guest Pass. All seating is available on a first come first serve basis. If you have any questions please contact us at 320-291-1116 (For Professinal Use Only) or email us at adaminc@charter.net.

Please join us on April 1st. We look forward to meeting you!
